APHL Standing Committees

Standing committees are the workhorses of the association: thirteen groups created by the Board of Directors to carry out APHL's mission and strategic objectives.

Committees typically hold monthly conference calls and have at least one face-to-face meeting per year.  They report quarterly to the Board of Directors and each committee includes one board member to act as liaison between the two entities.

Committee members serve three-years terms with new members appointed each year by the president.  Subcommittees, task forces, and work groups are formed on an ad hoc basis to handle emerging issues.  Membership is open to all membership types.

Standing Committees include:

• Emergency Preparedness & Response
• Environmental Health
• Finance
• Food Safety
• Global Health
• Infectious Diseases
• Informatics
• Knowledge Management;
• Laboratory Systems and Standards
• Membership
• Newborn Screening & Genetics
• Public Policy
• Workforce Development
