The 2010 HIV Diagnostics Conference included sessions on point-of-care and laboratory testing algorithms as well as new testing technologies and methods.  Presentations can be viewed online at www.hivtestingconference.org. 

“HIV Testing Algorithms: A Status Report” was produced as a collaborative effort between APHL and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is not intended to serve as a recommendation for any of the algorithms presented in the document.  From the report's webpage you can access the full report, executive summary and schematics of the various algorithms, and provide feedback to the authors.

On August 19th, 2009, the APHL/CDC HIV Steering Committee convened a public health laboratory conference call to introduce the newly-proposed HIV testing algorithms - described in the Status Report - and to highlight some of the data needed to evaluate their performance.  The complete presentation and call summary can be accessed online.  A specialized data template was also introduced on the call for the collection of signal-to-cutoff values for specimens repeatedly screened by immunoassay.  Laboratories interested in sharing data with APHL are encouraged to contact hiv.algorithm@aphl.org.
