Focus:
• Advise and support the WSLH and WCLN in matters of infectious disease diagnosis and public health emergency preparedness, including bioterrorism.
• Appoint and provide oversight to standing committees as needed.
• Encourage communication and strengthen ties among laboratories and public health staff/officials.
• Identify and address the technical, training, and educational needs of Wisconsin’s clinical laboratories by identifying resources and training (e.g., teleconferences, workshops, written materials, etc.).
• Provide a communication resource (conduit) for Wisconsin laboratories within a region – acting as a point of contact to provide communication to and from Wisconsin laboratories, including feedback from laboratories.
Accomplishments:
• Participated in development of the Wisconsin proficiency testing exercises.
• Participated in the development of workshops (e.g., “Primary Stains in Microbiology", “Challenges in Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing”), and served as faculty for selected topics.
• Participated in development of the "Bench Guide for Bioterrorism Agents", distributed to Wisconsin laboratories and shared with other states.
• Collaborated in the development of the "Wisconsin Laboratory Response Network Laboratory Competency Assessments" for emergency preparedness.
• Participated in development of and served as faculty for educational audio conference programs.
• Collaborated in the development and maintenance of the resource document “Continuing Education Resources for Wisconsin Laboratories”.
• Collaborated in the development of the guidance document, “Laboratory Biosafety: Performing a Risk Assessment”.
