These two meetings will be held at Grand Hyatt Hotel from August 27-30, 2012. They will consist of a keynote session, general sessions, breakout sessions, a poster session, coffee talks, and a social event over the course of 2 ½ days.
Invited Participants
- Public Health laboratory personnel who are part of the PulseNet Network or are interested in standardized PFGE subtyping of foodborne pathogens
- Epidemiologists who investigate foodborne disease outbreaks
- Participants from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Food Safety and Inspection Service and Agricultural Research Service
- Laboratory personnel or epidemiologists from International Public Health Agencies who are interested in learning more about PulseNet or OutbreakNet
- Environmental health specialists who work in food safety or inspection roles
Logistics
Travel Funds
Laboratory personnel from labs that have ELC or EIP funding and PulseNet Area Labs are expected to use those funds for travel expenses for this meeting. Additional ELC or EIP funds may be used to travel foodborne epidemiologists to this meeting, if deemed appropriate by the state. Very limited funds are available to travel public health laboratory personnel not funded through ELC/EIP. Anyone seeking funding assistance must complete the travel award application and return it to Kristy Kubota by July 6, 2012. APHL will facilitate the travel award process in cooperation with CDC staff. Announcements of travel awards will be made by July 20, 2012 to allow sufficient time to make air & hotel arrangements.
Epidemiology personnel who were awarded ELC or EIP travel funding for this meeting are expected to use those funds. Limited funds are available to travel public health epidemiology personnel not funded thorugh ELC/EIP. Anyone seeking funding assistance must complete the Funding Award Request Form below and return it to OutbreakNet@cdc.gov no later than June 29, 2012; emails not designated "completed fundng award request form" in the subject line may be overlooked. APHL will facilitate the travel award process in cooperation with CDC staff. Announcements of travel awards will be made by July 20, 2012 to allow sufficient time to make air & hotel arrangements.
