2012 LRN National Meeting

2012 Laboratory Response Network (LRN) National Meeting

The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) in collaboration with the Division of Preparedness and Emerging Infections (DPEI) and the National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will convene the 2012 Laboratory Response Network (LRN) National Meeting on October 10-12, 2012 in Denver, CO. The purpose of this meeting is to provide attendees with current information on:

  • Preparedness Collaborations among LRN National, Reference and Sentinel
  • Clinical Laboratories and First Responders
  • New LRN Technologies
  • New LRN Policies
  • Model Practices
  • Solutions to Ongoing Challenges
  • Training Needs
  • LRN's broader role in public health preparedness and response

The LRN National Meeting is an ideal combination of science, policy, networking and partnerships with a focus on innovation and emerging technologies.

The LRN National Meeting will be open to all attendees on Day 1 and until 1:00pm on Day 2. Due to the nature of the discussions, the remaining sessions (after 1:00pm on Day 2 and Day 3) are open only to LRN Reference and National Member Laboratories and Invited Partners.

Abstracts: Submissions are closed
All submissions will be done via email. Full details on this process are contained in the Call for Proposals. Please read and follow these directions carefully and complete one Abstract Submission Form for each proposal. Only abstracts submitted per the instructions will be considered.

Photo/Video Contest: Submissions are closed
APHL is pleased to announce a Laboratory Photo and Video Contest to creatively display and promote the work of the laboratories that comprise the LRN. General requirements and prize information can be found in the Photo and Video Contest Information Sheet. 

Awards: Submissions are closed
The LRN National Meeting Planning Committee is pleased to announce that the nomination period for awards is now open. Details regarding the award categories and nomination process is found in the Awards Nomination Sheet.  


CDC funded grantees can use your CDC Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Cooperative Agreement funds to support travel, lodging and other per diem expenses associated with participating in this meeting.

Advanced registration through APHL is required.

            - $150 until October 10, 2012
            - $350 onsite
Continuing Education Credits
APHL is an approved provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences through the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) P.A.C.E.® program. Attendees have the opportunity to earn up to 15.5 contact hours by attending the entire conference. Attendance rosters must be signed in each attended session that credit is requested for and the P.A.C.E.® certificate must be signed and certified by APHL staff at the registration booth at the end of your time at the conference.
The 2012 LRN National Meeting will commence at 8:00 am MDT on Wednesday, October 10 and adjourn at 4:00 pm MDT on Friday, October 12. Please plan on arriving on October 9 and departing after 6:00 pm MDT on October 12. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all sessions and avoid early departures.

This room block may fill up early so be sure to reserve as soon as possible.  The conference room rate will be the prevailing 2013 federal per diem (plus tax) per night for all rooms. (The 2012 federal per diem rate is $149.) Be advised that the per diem rate may change on October 1st so the room rate may increase or decrease if this happens.
