Continuing Education and Training

APHL offers a range of high-quality continuing education programs to strengthen the skills of laboratorians and promote excellence in laboratory practice. It sponsors education programs both independently and through the National Laboratory Training Network (NLTN™), a highly respected 20-year collaboration with the CDC. Participants can receive continuing education credits (PACE®, CDC, etc.) for most APHL or NLTN programs.

Teleconferences

Teleconferences are live lectures presented by subject matter experts via the telephone. Handouts are available for download prior to the presentation.  This cost-effective method of training allows for staff education without leaving the workplace.  

Web Conferences 

Webconferences are live lectures and handouts presented by subject matter experts via the Internet. These visually-oriented programs require access to both a computer with an internet connection and a telephone. This cost-effective method of training allows for staff education without leaving the workplace.   

Hands-On Laboratory Workshops

Hands-On Laboratory Workshops, also know as “Wet Workshops,” engage participants with discussion and lecture as well as state-of-the-art laboratory exercises. Participants interact with each other and with subject matter experts to gain a complete understanding of the material presented.

Seminars  

Seminars are in-person lectures that allow participants the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about a particular topic directly from subject matter experts. Opportunities include networking, discussion and question and answer segments.

On-Demand Programs

On-Demand Programs feature laboratory training available at your convenience, and at your own pace — anytime, anywhere!   These programs include: on-line courses, “Laboratory Workshops To Go,” CD/DVDs, previously recorded teleconferences, and podcasts.
