With over 20 years' experience as a collaborator in more than 30 countries, APHL brings a laboratory systems perspective to support laboratories and public health ministries worldwide. We provide strategic planning, training for laboratory leaders and bench staff, model practices, guidance documents and technical assistance. And we advocate to shape public health policy, champion the value of laboratory systems and support sustainable laboratory strengthening initiatives.
Our global work began in 1998 when we helped to rebuild laboratory systems in the Caribbean after the devastating hurricanes Mitch and Georges. From there, we expanded our activities to their present depth and breadth. Recently, we have partnered with the Global Health Security Agenda to support the development of laboratory networks, emergency operation centers and laboratory information systems to rapidly respond to public health emergencies.
