Biosafety & Biosecurity Resources

APHL, working in partnership with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, offers tools and resources to strengthen biosafety and biosecurity practices in public health and clinical laboratories.

Biosafety Community of Practice

In 2016, APHL started the Biosafety Community of Practice to provide biosafety officers (BSOs) from state, local and territorial public health laboratories with opportunities to network, share ideas and resources amongst BSOs and build skills related to biosafety and biosecurity practices. The Technical Skills Building Workshops, the BioSafe 360°: Biosafety Officer Leadership Program and Peer Network were the first opportunities of their kind to be offered to the BSOs. In 2017, APHL expanded its offerings to include the Leadership Development Workshops and ColLABorate Platform.
