About the Institutional Research Program

The Institutional Research Program provides information on the public health laboratory system to members, the CDC and other public health stakeholders. The program shares subject matter expertise on survey development, design, administration and analysis with APHL staff and the membership. It fields 15-18 surveys per year on a wide range of topics such as public health preparedness, workforce capacity and laboratory systems.

Survey data is used to inform the development of publications, fact sheets for state and federal policymakers and presentations at national conferences as well as the overall strategic direction of APHL’s work. This data is made available to members in a variety of ways, including the Survey Resource Center, data visualization dashboards and infographics.
