Thank you for your interest in receiving funding support for addressing needs resulting from the current public health emergencies (including the global COVID-19 pandemic and scattered natural disasters around the nation). These public health emergencies have contributed to the need for enhancements and improvements to newborn screening, analysis, follow-up and diagnosis practices within the public health system. This opportunity is available to all state NBS programs and NBS stakeholders.
All U.S. and territorial NBS programs and NBS stakeholders are eligible to apply for this funding and are subject to the requirements to be set forth in a contract between APHL and the funded entity.
NBS programs can use funding for enhancements to the following areas (this list is not comprehensive): electronic reporting, health information technology solutions, communication solutions, follow-up efficiencies, meetings and trainings, staffing solutions, enhancement of procedures and methodologies, to address supply and reagent shortages, optimizations to second and repeat newborn screens, modifications to disorder specific algorithms, courier improvements, education and outreach, continuity of operations planning, and others.
Anticipated RFP Schedule
September 24, 2020 - Applications open
October 23, 2020 - Aplications due by 11:59 pm ET to APHL
October 26-30, 2020 - Application review process
November 2, 2020 - Awardees notified
December 18, 2020 - Contracts ratified between APHL and awardees
July 30, 2021 - Project completion date (or sooner)
