Environmental Justice in Our Communities: Strategies for Laboratory Involvement843314 Environmental justice is the impartial development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations and policies for all people regardless of race, nationality or socioeconomic status. In the United States, minority and low-income populations are more likely to live near polluted lands, are typically underrepresented in biomonitoring and epidemiological studies, and are prone to be seriously impacted by environmental hazards. Join this webinar to hear local, state and federal perspectives on how public health laboratories may best support environmental justice in their communities.6/15/2021 2:36:34 PMSTS_ListItem_Eventshttps://www.aphl.org/Lists/Calendar/AllItems.aspx0https://www.aphl.org6/15/2021 2:36:34 PMFalse3535~sitecollection/_catalogs/masterpage/Display Templates/Search/UpcomingItem_TrainingSearch.js
Navigating Electronic Laboratory Reporting for the Laboratory Response Network842546 Public health laboratories utilize a variety of electronic information systems to collect testing data and provide results to sample submitters and other external partners. Today, an urgent need still exists for modernized electronic data systems such as Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR). The Laboratory Response Network (LRN) is currently implementing ELR in member laboratories to improve data exchange systems. ELR utilizes Health Level 7 (HL7) standards and guidelines to ensure uniform communication between laboratories and the CDC and creates a robust and reliable system capable of transporting information securely. This webinar will provide an overview of current data exchange priorities, stories from completed implementations and funding opportunities for future implementations.6/9/2021 1:20:21 PMSTS_ListItem_Eventshttps://www.aphl.org/Lists/Calendar/AllItems.aspx0https://www.aphl.org6/9/2021 1:20:21 PMFalse3535~sitecollection/_catalogs/masterpage/Display Templates/Search/UpcomingItem_TrainingSearch.js
State Strategies to Build PFAS Testing Programs843630The persistent nature of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) ensures one thing they may be present in virtually any environmental matrix and in any person. To best understand potential PFAS exposure pathways, states are increasingly faced with the task of developing a strategic laboratory testing program that encompasses all possible routes of exposure to their residents. Join this webinar to learn how four states – Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin – are developing PFAS testing programs to provide quality laboratory data to inform public health decisions.6/17/2021 8:39:05 PMSTS_ListItem_Eventshttps://www.aphl.org/Lists/Calendar/AllItems.aspx0https://www.aphl.org6/17/2021 8:39:05 PMFalse3535~sitecollection/_catalogs/masterpage/Display Templates/Search/UpcomingItem_TrainingSearch.js
Advancing Molecular Surveillance with Bioinformatic Analysis and Pipelines843331Whole Genome Sequence is changing laboratory surveillance practices for PulseNet and other non-PulseNet specific pathogens. Alyssa Kelley, a Bioinformatician for the CrypoNet network, will be presenting new molecular tools for Cryptosporidium surveillance. Dr. Joel Barratt, an ORISE Fellow and Bioinformatician in the Parasitic Diseases Branch, will be presenting on genotyping strategies with Cyclospora and cyclosporiasis investigations.6/15/2021 5:25:30 PMSTS_ListItem_Eventshttps://www.aphl.org/Lists/Calendar/AllItems.aspx0https://www.aphl.org6/15/2021 5:25:30 PMFalse3535~sitecollection/_catalogs/masterpage/Display Templates/Search/UpcomingItem_TrainingSearch.js
Candida auris – Testing Methods and Resources for Clinical Laboratories843631 Candida auris is an emerging fungus of public health concern. Outbreaks in healthcare settings are a serious concern due to the difficulty in identification and resistance trends. This webinar will discuss the importance of timely detection of C. auris and provide examples of successful testing implementation in clinical settings. Speakers will also provide information on resources laboratories can utilize when testing for C. auris.6/17/2021 8:40:59 PMSTS_ListItem_Eventshttps://www.aphl.org/Lists/Calendar/AllItems.aspx0https://www.aphl.org6/17/2021 8:40:59 PMFalse3535~sitecollection/_catalogs/masterpage/Display Templates/Search/UpcomingItem_TrainingSearch.js
