Statement of Need
The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) is seeking information on providers of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) in Tbilisi, Georgia. The goal is to find either a commercial or open source LIMS solution for installation at NCDC and 7 additional public health sector laboratories in Georgia. This solution will immediately assist with notifiable disease testing and reporting.
The RFI has been prepared to assist APHL in fully understanding the functionality, capabilities and associated services that are available as it relates to the type of LIMS solutions. This RFI is a vehicle for information discovery of any existing, deployed solutions and interested parties should not construe this RFI as a solicitation.
Background
The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) is a nonprofit organization that works with the United States Government and various international organizations to strengthen public health laboratories throughout the world. As a part of these efforts, APHL supports data management systems within laboratories, electronic linkages between the laboratory and surveillance/medical record systems, electronic sample referral and centralized laboratory data repositories for analysis and reporting. APHL is seeking information from industry providers globally and notably in the European region for a LIMS solution to streamline services, enhance result reporting, exchange data with relevant health systems, and monitor performance.
Instructions to Vendors
This is a Request for Information (RFI) not a work order or solicitation for proposals. Interested parties cannot charge APHL for any reason. This is not a request or authorization to perform work at APHL’s expense. Any work performed will be at the vendor’s own discretion and expense. The RFI does not represent a commitment to buy. APHL intends to submit a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) for the services described in the document in the future.
